To Grayson and Sherry Cox, a daughter, Stacy Lynae, August 23, 2001,
Jericho Friends Meeting, Winchester, Indiana.
Deaths:
FOSTER Gerald R. Foster, 84, Mooreland Friends, Indiana, January 29,
2002. Gerald Foster was preceded in death by his wife Gladys in 1998.
Survivors include four sons, Jimmy, Aaron, Michael and Richard; one daughter,
Mary; one sister, Virginia Shreiner; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren.
GILBERT Lula Mae Stout Gilbert, 95, New London Friends, Russiaville,
Indiana, January 6, 2002. Lula Gilbert was a life-long member of her meeting
and served in many capacities through the years. She was preceded in death
by her husband, J. Wendell Gilbert. Survivors include two sons, John and
Joseph; two daughters, Jane Hendrickson and Marjorie Lake; one brother,
Kennard R. Stout; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren.
GLANTZ Gladys Marie Myers Glantz, 88, Central City Friends, Nebraska,
December 13, 2001.ÊGladys Glantz was born July 22, 1913, to Everett and
Lucy Myers. She was a charter member of Central City Friends and one of
the founders of Nebraska Central College.ÊShe was preceded in death by
her husband, Leonard, in 1972.Ê Survivors include two daughters, Jean
Larkins and Vickie Farrer; two sons, Larry and Donald; eight grandchildren;
nine great-grandchildren.
KIMBERLAND Kendall Kimberland, 93, Montclair Friends, Upper Montclair,
New Jersey, April 1, 2001. Kenneth Kimberland was born October 15, 1907,
in Charleston, West Virginia to Maynard and Angie Graham Kimberland. A
member of 15th St. Meeting, New York, during the early 1940s, he joined
Montclair Friends in 1946 when he moved to New Jersey with his family.
He worked with the AFSC during WW II in alternative service, and was involved
in relief work in Northern Africa and France. While working overseas as
an employee of Chase Manhattan Bank, he also did relief work in Bombay,
and traveled from Cairo to Jerusalem to work with another Quaker appointed
mayor of Jerusalem at the time under a United Nations agreement. After
retirement he helped set up a development bank in Afghanistan and worked
with the Service Core of Retired Executives, based in Newark, New Jersey.
KUHNS Beulah I. Johnson Kuhns, 78, New London Friends, Russiaville, Indiana,
January 31, 2002. Beulah Kuhns was active in Western Yearly Meeting and
the USFWI as well as in her own meeting. She had an especial concern for
Quaker Haven Camp. Survivors include her husband, Vernon D. Kuhns; four
sons, James, John, Ronald, and Phillip; two daughters, Caroline Jo Kuhns
and Marcheta Davis; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
McABEE Frances McAbee, 64, Portland Friends, Indiana, December 2, 2001.
Frances McAbee was the daughter of Kenneth and Eva Dudley Hodgson. She
was employed for over 30 years by Kerr Glass/Ball Foster in Dunkirk. Survivors
include her husband, Jerry W. McAbee; one daughter, Kathy McCormick; six
sisters, Florence Gooding, Nellie Grile, Martha Hidalgo, Linnie Schisler,
Mary Vore and Bertha Bivens; one brother, Kenneth Hodgson; five grandchildren
and three great-grandchildren.
NORWOOD Lillian Wood Myers Norwood, 89, Forsyth Meeting, High Point,
North Carolina, January 20, 2002. Lillian was born July 27, 1912, in Yadkin
County to Preston and Victoria Wood. She had been a member of Winston
Salem Friends before she becoming a charter member of Forsysth Friends
in 1971. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Fred Myers, five
brothers and one sister. In 1991 she married Charles Norwood. Survivors
include her second husband; one daughter, Vicky Duncan; one granddaughter,
Catherine; two stepsons, Ronald and Donald Norwood; four step-grandchildren
and four step-great-grandchildren.
REEVE Minnie McCluskey Reeve, 91, Glenwood Friends, Greensboro, North
Carolina, January 29, 2002. Minnie Reeve was an active, longtime member
of her meeting and participated in the James Dunman Sunday school class,
the Fellowship Group and the RebeccaÕs. She was also a member of Eastern
Star. Survivors include two sons, Harold McCluskey Jr. and Donald McCluskey;
two daughters, Jean Crouse and Ruth Quate; one sister, Frances Hayes;
six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
